Metalliage hires Medima as North America agent
10-Oct-08. Canadian ferrotitanium producer Metalliage has appointed Buffalo, New York-based Medima as its exclusive North American sales agent, Medima said Friday. Metalliage is based near Montreal, Quebec, and produces FeTi 70% and FeTi 35%. It also sells a range of unprocessed and processed titanium turnings.
Medima, founded by ferroalloys trader Barry Lazar earlier this year, also has the exclusive North American agency for Samancor Chrome in South Africa, the world's second largest charge chrome producer in the world and one of the largest suppliers to the US market of charge chrome and intermediate carbon ferrochome. Medima is also North American agent for German low-carbon ferrochrome and electrolytic chromium producer RCS/EWW.

Samancor appoints North American agent
11-Jun-08. Trading company Medima, recently set up in Williamsville, New York, has been appointed sole agent in North America to Samancor Chrome, the largest ferro-chrome producer in South Africa.
Barry Lazar of Medima said the company will be the exclusive agent for all sales of Samancor's charge chrome, and IZC3 medium carbon and low carbon ferro-chrome in North America. In addition to fulfilling Samancor's long term business it is able to offer spot material in the US market.
Samancor is expected to bring its medium carbon ferro-chrome production back online shortly, following an accident which damaged the furnace at its Ferrometals works in February this year.
Medima is also the North American agent for Elektrowerk Weisweiler (EWW), a German producer of special grades of low carbon ferro-chrome, which it produces from Turkish chrome ore.
The US company also trades a range of noble alloys, manganese and chromium metal, and both 70% and 30% grades of ferro-titanium, working in partnership with Noble Group, the exclusive ferro-titanium agent for Russian producer VSMPO.
